The bastards are somewhat back in this episode, and they’ve brought a guest with them. None other than friend of the show Tyler Harvin’ a Good Time. The dudes talk about Dusty’s busted arm, and his impending bundle of joy. Tyler becomes Nate, and Max finds some new sound effects. All this and more on another bwaaa-tastic episode of BBB!

Dusty and Max head up this episode, and what an episode they head! Max discusses how children are scary. Dusty gives the Anchor Christmas a whirl, and the dudes agree that buttplay might not be right for them. There is also a rant on beer freshness and beer art. Max talks about getting robbed, and Dusty talks about his harrowing car rescue. The dudes close it out with football and movies. All this on another historically accurate BBB!

The bastards are all back together and Nate is quiet this episode. Find out why! The dudes talk about new football teams, and we learn Max doesn’t know his Bills history very well. We also learn that Dusty is deprived of BJs and Nate regales a good story. Plus our first ever live fan recording! All this and more on a croontastic episode of BBB!

Unique First Blog Title

So last night, I got to talk to the fat fuck himself Kev Smith. I told him he is the inspiration for our reasons to podcast, which is the Gods honest truth (and I left out an apostrophe cause I mean gods like Loki or Ganesha too.) Kev got me through some long shifts of shittiess and I know he still does for one of us bastards. His words are sincere and let’s face it, the guy is fucking hilarious, but let me stop kneeling on the floor and wolfing Kev Smith hog.

Podcasting, for me at least, has taken on a life of it’s own. I have been in a few bands (still am too check us out ) and I’ve worked in other creative junctures that have taken up a lot of my time and not gone so well coughDJINGcough, but podcasting has seen me enjoy practice in several different arenas. It has helped me:

  1. Be a Better Planner – Fuck, there’s a lot that goes into our chaos, and honestly making lists and writing down what you want to say makes things seem a lot more professional. Not to mention synching up 3+ peoples schedules at one time. Makes like easier to know what the fuck is going on.
  2. Hone Recording Skills – I have not only gotten some basic knowledge in my recording software, I now have basic mixing skills under my belt as well, because I vowed that if I did a podcast, I’d want it to sound good.
  3. Learn How to Network – Seems simple enough, but marketing yourself and getting other people excited for your bullshit is kind of tough to do. This thing is probably the most ongoing work.
  4. Learn How to Make a Fucking Mistake – Holy shit, this is probably my biggest one in this podcasting gig. I can’t count how many times things have gone wrong behind the scenes of BBB, but the most important thing is owning up to it, which is what I have done thoroughly. Manning up and owning your mistakes makes you less of a scumbag that way.

I like to keep busy. I’m always thinking, always moving, I’m like a shark but with a less prehistoric brain. If I stop moving, I’ll die, and for me the podcast is a great indefinite. With the band, the dream is to get signed, with education you get a job, but podcasting just keeps going, and the beauty is that if you do it right, and you care about it, that shit can go on forever and still be fresh as the first time you laid your voice down. I think that’s the thing that really amps me up. This show has changed even from the first show we ever did, and I’m sure it will continue to undergo metamorphosis like the drunken alien baby it is. The thrust of my blog is this: if you need something to keep you going, to get shit out there, make a podcast, and I would add don’t just “make a podcast”, make it good. You know what good is to you. Think “would I listen to this if I was not me?”. Make it serious, make it funny, but regardless of what it is, make it true to you and make it honest. Humans can tell when other humans are being genuine, and for me, and I’m sure for all of us here at BBB brewquarters we try to be as real as we can.

Thanks for listening (and reading) you guys. Seriously, it means a ton that people I don’t even know, know me like we are buddies. It’s cool.

Keep on brewin! (I’ll get a good ending catchphrase).
